This is how I am collecting jems for our compost trash can. the jar on the left has used napkins, card board and egg cartons torn or cut up for the browns needed in composting. You need at least twice as much browns as greens when composting.  On the right is a combination of egg shells and kitchen scraps that I broke up in our processer and added water.  Because I am an impatient composter I like to break down the additions to our compost into smaller pieces so they will mature into great organic compost faster.
